Chapter 1. Introduction

This practical workshop is the supplement to my presentation I have given at the 17th Conference (2004) of the German Oracle User Group in Mannheim [DOAG]. Whereas my presentation was focused on giving an overview of functional testing with open source tools, this workshop provides some in-depth technical material and samples.

1.1. The Oracle ADF Toy Store

Throughout this text I will use the Oracle ADF Toy Store [ADFTOYSTORE] to demonstrate how functional testing could be done with Open Source Tools.

As shown in the graphic above, within ADF Toy Store you can do mainly four basic things. You can register as a new user, you can login with that newly created user, browse and select the products of the shop and in the end make an order.

1.2. The Testing Concept

The goal of that workshop is to create a multitier testing concept for the ADF Toy Store. We will combine several Open Source tools to get this done.
